Example
Photos using a 1.2 Mega Pixel Camera:
An Agfa ePhoto 1280
camera, 38 - 114 mm (3x zoom) (35 mm equivalent), it has five photo
resolution settings. I've included some 640 x 480 (smallest) and
1024 x 768 (largest) photos in this collection. You can
view smaller versions in Fotki album and also download an original camera
file if you would like use for a test print. 640 x 480 files will
make ok 4"x6" prints.
1024 x 768 files will make good 4"x6" prints.
I've even printed a few good 5"x7" photos when the image was clear and
sharp.

Copy,
Crop & Clone

I caught the subjects I wanted in this scene, but everyone was moving about too much.

Many image editing programs now provide the tools needed. I used PaintShop
Pro 7 .

Digital Zoom vs. Optical Zoom
Almost every article I read on camera digital zoom says that you are
better off using software to increase the image size. They are probably
correct. But I like to see for myself, so I created this image of the
moon.

About Digital Camera Image Sizes
A note on image quality
After creating this image in PaintShop Pro, the initial saved file size
was over 3.2 mega bytes.
In order to achieve a shorter download time, quality was sacrificed. This
photo was saved with an 80% JPEG compression to get the file size down to
240 KB. At such a high compression, the image
quality (not size in pixels) suffers greatly. The large pixel areas, called
artifacts, become annoyingly visible.

Image Quick Fix
Here, I've used original camera images that need some help with color.
I applied the appropriate "quick fix" tools from
ACDSee and
Jasc After Shot .
For this photo gallery, I was trying out Jasc's new After Shot trial version. Web Page creation is one of it's
features.
It's newer version is Paint Shop Photo Album 4.
If you don't already have a photo editing tool, both programs are worth
a look.
